‘Gracepat Ecotours’ has links with several community schools around Nairobi in Kenya.
Volunteering opportunities for teaching in local Kenyan schools is organised by Nairobi based Gracepatt Ecotours, headed by Patrick Karimi and his wife Grace. Placements can be organised for one to three months, with accommodation provided with Kenyan families. The cost, which includes all travel arrangements, food and accommodation, is approximately £2500 for one month and £800 for each extra month.
Volunteers can teach and /or assist teachers at community based schools and Government primary schools in both urban or rural settings according to preference. The students range in age from 4 to 13 years. Help is welcome with all parts of the curriculum, from teaching English to sporting activities. All classes are taught in English. No previous teaching experience is required, but any experience and/or qualifications would be especially welcomed. Teaching resources are always scarce, so those with access to or knowledge of how to create learning resources will make an especially valuable contribution.
